Snow Days, UpWard Basketball & Cheer

It does snow in Kentucky! We had two snow days when the kids stayed home from school so we took advantage and played in our back yard. I knew that hill would be good for something! We invited some neighborhood kids over in the afternoon to come sled with us. 

After sitting outside and playing I decided I was done and watched them from the window that is above our computer desk in the kitchen.

In January and February Madelyn did her first year of cheerleading. Originally she wanted to play basketball but when she heard that cheerleading was an option she changed her mind.  It was through a wonderful Christian church called Grace Heartland. They were so fun to work with and Madelyn loved learning the cheers, dancing and making new friends. 

Ian tried basketball for the first time! He had been practicing dribbling for months up and down our driveway. We got a basketball hoop for Christmas and as soon as there was a somewhat ward day, Scott and I put it together.  His coach said that Ian was definitely the most improved on the team, he gained confidence and some great new skills.

At every game they would call out all the players and cheerleaders names and they would run out and form a line, then they would say a prayer.  During halftime they would have a quick devotional about different things like God's love, being a friend, honesty, humility, then they would pray again and play the second half. Each week they would learn a new scripture verse at practice and then earn stickers for different attributes. We really enjoyed being a part of their program.

We have had a couple days of 65 and above weather, this is where you can usually find us. Scott makes them work hard for those baskets!
