The big brother

I thought that since all my blogs lately have been about Madelyn, I should tell you about Rylan and what he is up to. Rylan makes us laugh so hard, he is a goof ball for sure. Here are some funny things that he has done. While I was changing Madelyn's diaper she happened to poo right as we were exchanging the diapers so Rylan and I witnessed it and Rylan who was laughing before at the noises she was making, all the sudden from seeing what was making those noises covered his mouth and said "ohh I am going to puke" and ran to the bathroom. I really thought he was going to he looked disgusted! Then the other night at dinner, Rylan was talking and talking (as usual) about Star Wars, "you know that one guy who has the purple light saber....", "I like Obi Kanobi...." on and on and on. Finally Scott said, "Rylan is star wars all you ever think about?" Rylan said, "NO!" "Oh, well what else do you think about Ry?" asked Scott. Ryla...

A day at the park

Image
We met up with Margie, Jeff, Erica, and mom and dad at Liberty Park in SLC last Saturday. Mom and dad are staying at Margies house waiting for her baby to be born. It should be any day now! Madelyn just hanging out in her stroller since she HATES her carseat and screams when you put her in it. A little cross-eyed picture! Rylan and Erica LOVE their Grandma! My sister Anna has been visiting us for a couple days. Rylan just adores her and they were basking in the sunlight after lunch the other day.

Madelyn is such a sweetie, a sweetie that likes to eat a lot! I swear she isn't content unless she is eating, sleeping, or her daddy is holding her. When she hears her mom's voice she wants to eat. I tried to get some pictures of her because I have been asked to see some more of her sooo..here they are This is proof that my little girl is advanced or whatever, look at that smile!!!

Cool Website

So i got this website forwarded to me through a e-mail and I think it is sooo cool! You give them your birthdate and they tell you what song was number 1 on the Billboard charts. By the way the song that was #1 the day I was born was "Physical" by Olivia Newton John! Yes I love that song, so fitting! http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm Enjoy

My kids

I can't believe I have TWO kids now. We are adjusting just fine over here, we might still be in our P.J.'s at 10:30 a.m. but we are just slowly transitioning back into our life with our new addition. It helps tremendously that Grandma is here! I need to learn how to time it just right before we go anywhere because we have been running late here and there. Scott and I HATE being late, so we need to work on that. Rylan is very proud of his baby sister and likes to show her off to everyone. Rylan couldn't wait until Madelyn woke up this morning to hold her, so as soon as she did and was changed I gave her to him and they watched cartoons with each other for about 15 minutes. Madelyn was looking at Rylan the whole time studying his face.

Who is Madelyn?

So we were able to come home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Finally! We had to stay for an extra 24 hours because of the infection I had that "could" have been passed to Madelyn, they wanted us to stay to make sure she didn't get it. She didn't, so we headed home as soon as they would let us. We were welcomed home by Rylan, Grandma and Grandpa Young, and some pink balloons and a yummy turkey that was left by Grammy Jody. Madelyn is such a sweetheart! I love, love, love to have a baby in our home. Here is a list of things about Madelyn's little personality so far: 1. She is a screamer! She doesn't give you much warning, when she is upset whether you are changing her diaper, or she is hungry she has this wail that sounds like a dying cat. Very sad. 2. She loves her daddy's voice. Scott has calmed her down a number of times just by talking to her. 3. She loves to nuzzle her face into things, this doesn't surprise us because everytime we had an ult...

She's HERE!

Well, our little girl has finally arrived! Madelyn Kate Hoogland was delivered at 3:04 p.m. today (September 9th) weighing 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 1/2 inches. As you can see she has a FULL head of hair and we think she is the cutest baby ever! Mom is doing fine, we are just hanging out here at the hospital. Rylan is in very good hands at home with Grandma and Grandpa Young and Grammy Jody. Taking a bath, they had to wash her hair twice to get all the gunk out because it is so thick!

A real man must learn how to do sit-ups and push-ups

Image
So we were playing in our basement the other night and Rylan said something sassy (yet funny) to Scott and so he said, "give me some push-ups." Sometimes he forgets that when he is home he is not "Lieutenant Hoogland" anymore..but anyway Ry started to do them and Scott had to help him on his form, then they started sit-ups which Rylan is actually pretty good at.

A great day in the Hoogland household!

Today Rylan started his "kindergarten prep" class. He was very excited to go, we got there and he was ready. He sat down where we found his name and put his backpack around his chair and waited for the teacher to call his name. When she did he raised his hand and said, "That is me, over here, see I am wearing an army jacket." When I went to pick him up he talked the whole way home, we finger-painted, and learned about turtles, we sang songs, and read a story about cooperation. Today was also exciting because Leah was able to see a light at the end of the pregnancy tunnel! At the doctor today I found out I was dilated to 3 cm, and 85% effaced! I have been scheduled to be induced on September 9th, but my doctor said that she thought I would go into labor on my own before than. YES! This picture is of me when I got home from my appointment! So I have a week or less of pregnancy left! YAHOOO!
