Madelyn Turns 9!

Our sweet girl had her 9th birthday in September.  She is growing up to be such a sweat, kind-hearted young woman.  This year (2017, I'm writting this a couple months late) her birthday was on a Saturday so we were able to sleep in and she requested German pancakes (or hootinanies is what Grandma Young calls them) for breakfast

 All she wanted for her birthday were stylish boots and an electric scooter. Scott wanted to pick out his girl some boots, and she wears them 24/7!  I finally had to buy her some dresses that would go with them because she wanted to wear them all the time even to church!

 She caught on to the scooter really fast and has been zipping around in the neighborhood. For dinner we went to an all you can eat pizza buffet restaurant that has an arcade in the back.

 Then we had Oreo ice cream cake for dessert

Madelyn is a jokester like her dad (she wanted to take this picture to show Ian in the hopes that he would get scared) 

 She is an animal lover, she loves reading books to therapy dogs at our local library, and she begs for a dog on a weekly basis.

 She is creative, and is always working on a project with popsicle sticks, paper, tape, string, whatever she can get her hands on. I recently showed her how to use a hot glue gun and she has been creating like crazy.  This project was a diorama for school about panda bears. She made the bears out of clay.

Madelyn has the most beautiful curly hair but she insists that it be in a pony tail most days because when she runs at recess it just gets in her face!

 She is learning how to sew and recently made her first skirt with matching headband.

 In October she was nominated by her teacher for the "Paw Award."  The paw award exemplifies the school's guidelines for success which are: be your best, be responsible, be cooperative, and be respectful. When I went into a parent/teacher conference in the fall with her teacher  Ms. Eriksen, I came out crying from happiness from all the wonderful things she had said about our Madelyn.  She commented on how kind she was towards everyone, she doesn't leave anyone out, and that she helps take care of the kids that struggle with math because that is her favorite and best subject.  Such great things to hear about your daughter!
