Summer 2016

We were excited to have a summer here in Hawaii, because last year we got here and school started really soon after so we wanted to try and play extra hard and see some of the things we haven't seen on the island yet.

Rylan & Scott went to scout camp

We found a new waterfall hike Likeke Falls
We did not carve our initials but someone with our initials did, and we thought that was cool

Jake came to live with us for the summer!  He found a job working in downtown Waikiki at a photography company.  He rode the bus everyday and worked hard to earn money for his next semester. He said that he gained 10 lbs because I fed him so well!

We hiked Lanikai Pillboxes, (I feel like maybe I should have a different blog just for the hikes we go on.)

We ventured up to Kaneohe and toured the Japanese Byodo Temple

 Ringing the bell, and meditating
and feeding the Koi, and apparently the birds liked the Koi food too, Madelyn had them eating out of her hand!

Madelyn and I learned how to make leis

We took a stroll at the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens

Watched the 4th of July fireworks on top of Mount Tantalas that overlooks Honolulu

Had some sunburn fails (sorry kids)

A mama sea lion picked a beach down the street from us to have a baby!  They roped her off to keep her safe and we could go spy on them whenever we wanted!

Rylan had an unfortunate body boarding accident where his face slid on the sand

Scott took the day off just to go on a new hike with me at Lulumahu Falls.

But the thing we did the most this summer was swim, swim, swim!  The kids wanted to play in the pool almost everyday and I had to beg them to let me take them somewhere else.  They are such great swimmers, learning new dives, pool; games and tricks everyday.
