Since we don't plan on seeing our household goods for a while we packed our suitcases with essentials to get us through the next 4-6 weeks until our stuff arrives. We packed very basic kitchen supplies, air mattresses, clothes, sheets, towels, light blankets, important documents, Ry's trumpet, and little toys for the kids. 10 suitcases, 5 carry-on's, 2 booster seats, and 5 humans! We had shipped our van earlier that week and one of Scott's coworkers loaned us an SUV for a couple days. We figured out that all of our suitcases wouldn't fit in that SUV with all of us in it as well. So Scott dropped me and Maddy and Ian off with 4 suitcases first, then he came with Rylan and the rest of the luggage, then he went to his co-worker's house who then dropped Scott off at the airport. Good thing the USO entrance was right off the curb and it was easy to transfer kids and luggage. Our flight didn't leave until 7:30 pm but check out of our hotel was at 11:00 am so we went to the USO at the airport for a couple hours. There were two grandmas running it and they took great care of us! They fed us lunch and they had a family room with movies, games, and toys. The red-eye flight was not fun, we all had a hard time sleeping except Ian who can sleep anywhere. We arrived in Houston at 8 am, ate breakfast then boarded our next flight to Louisville at 10 am. We rented a large Ford Expedition and even then two suitcases needed to be on laps.
Louisville is about 45 minutes to Elizabethtown, everything is so lush and green, there is our exit! We had to stop at Chick Fil A because we haven't had it for two years!
We were in a hotel for two days then on Monday July 31st we closed on our house! We made an offer just in time because it was a new build the builder let us pick out the wood flooring, carpet, and paint color! We love it! Scott offered to carry me over the threshold, but when I told him I was going to do a hooray jump he did not want to join. We sent the jumping picture to our realtor and she posted it on her Facebook page she loved it so much.
The company that we did our mortgage loan through sent us this nice personalized door mat. Our back yard is so beautiful and peaceful to look at everyday. We often see deer during dawn and dusk and there are often hawks flying around.

With a new house comes new furniture, except it takes me forever to decide on what I want. We want to have a beachy living room with beige, teal blues and gray colors, so we started with this rug, then couches, and I am working on an accent chair.

On our first official weekend we drove over to Mammoth Cave National Park, we decided to take the scenic way and we saw a lot of Amish farms! The road however ended like this:
You had to take a single car ferry over the river, but the ferry was closed! We played in the river for a little bit and Maddy our creature lover of course found an itty bitty frog.
So 45 minutes later we drove around to the main entrance to the park and while we waited for our cave tour to start we took a little hike.
So this national park is very popular! We had no idea but the night before we were looking up the different tours and we found out you have to reserve your tours in advance! So the only tour we were interested in that still had 5 openings was the "Historic Tour." It was a park ranger led, two hour, two mile walk through a cave that is more than 300 miles long! Its really hard to get pictures in a cave, but we walked through a portion that was called "Fat Man's Misery" because it was so narrow! Kinda creepy, but also really cool. The kids loved it!
There are so many more places that we have yet to discover!
