Madelyn has been taking hula classes and she was able to perform at our holiday parade and festival.

In December the water park had a day that was just for military families, and it was free! Dad had to work, so we went with the Reardons. Julie just had surgery on her foot, so she couldn't get in the water so she watched my little kids for me! Caitlin and I did some big time rides!

I celebrated my birthday with some sweet church sisters at a pancake house.
We just were not feeling the Christmas/December spirit so we went to the Ice Palace to be cold!
It felt great, and my kids are quite the ice skaters! I was relieved that I had to help Ian with the walker. I'm not sure who needed it more me or him!
Scott was gone the first two weeks of December, we were happy to have him home. We coordinated our church outfits one Sunday. Like his maroon corduroy pants? What a hipster!
Our friends the Beans moved back to Seattle and they needed to sell their kid kayaks. We bought them with our Christmas money from Grandma and Grandpa Young, they are a huge hit!
Madelyn participated in her school's Christmas concert and Ian had a blast with Auntie Jeanie at the library. She is the sweetest woman who knows us by name and always has the best story time ideas and crafts for Ian.
Another big event in December was the opening of the new Star Wars. I convinced Julie and Emma to dress up as Princess Leia with me (it wasn't a hard task, they are always up for fun).
Scott wasn't so amused, he was kind of embarrassed to be seen with me. . . I call it karma, because Scott is always trying to embarrass me with his teasing! Ha
We learned of a Hawaii Kai tradition . . . a Christmas boat parade! It was fun to see the boats decorated in lights strolling through the marina.
We were invited to the Reardon's home for a Christmas talent show. Rylan played his trumpet, and Madelyn wrote and illustrated a book! It was darling. When it came time for her to share her talent she got really shy and wanted mom to come up with her and read it. It is about one of Santa's reindeer who helps a boy name Connor believe in Santa again.
On Christmas Eve day we hit up the beach with some of our church friends who also don't have any family near by! The kids went sledding down sand hills on their body boards!

It was a gorgeous day, until Scott got stung by not 1 Portuguese man of war but 4! At the same time! He was in a lot of pain and had to go home and soak in a hot bath and take some Benadryl.

The kids and I stayed and played with friends and they caught many of the same little blue boogers that stung Scott. The life guard told us that if you bury them in the sand Sea Turtles love to come up on the shore and eat them.
We left the beach around 4:30, showered and had our traditional ham dinner, read the Christmas story, made cookies for Santa, and then we were off to bed. The kids were up and ready by about 7:00 am on Christmas day.
I made a book through Snapfish for Scott that talked about how we met, dated and our wedding day. We don't have many pictures from our wedding but the ones we did have hadn't been put together besides a lovely book that mama Jody made us which was starting to fall apart. I thought it was time, and when he was gone in December it was the perfect time to work on it.
This is what his stings looked like the next day. He said it was like getting stung by 50 + bees at the same time. We enjoyed the day relaxing, talking with family on the phone, and playing with our new things. It was a great day!
