Rylan had a great marching band season. They made finals and finished 9th overall out of 27 Class AAA bands! Rylan also got his first job at Jimmy Johns. It was a brand new store that opened up, he and his friend Jonah applied and interviewed together and they work most shifts together.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with just our family, Maddy said she wanted to be in charge of the pies so she made a pumpkin and Key Lime Pie all by herself.
Madelyn had her cheer competition, she was as cool as a cucumber, she didn’t say she was nervous at all. She is so cool. There were three different divisions based on average age and their team was in the oldest, hardest division. They performed really well, they smiled, had spirit, did their stunts, and cheered loudly! They were 2nd to last to perform and the last group also did really well but they had a lot of experienced girls and threw in some extra tumbling. The other team won by .5 a point, but our girls were happy with 2nd because they saw how well the 1st place winners did. I was the team mom this year and made all of their gift bags and decorated their section of the bleachers.
Maddy and Ian were in the play at their school. They performed at their school for the preschool students and again for the whole elementary school, then a performance at night for their parents and families. Ian was a door greeter and he passed out programs. He asked me to get him something festive to wear so I got him a Santa hat and a necklace that had light-up Christmas lights on it.
The play was written by the drama teacher's dad, he helped direct it with her. It was a spin-off of A Christmas Carol but instead of Scrooge it was s child at school who didn't like Christmas spirit and she gets visited by three ghosts, her old teddy bear, a biker chick, and a Barbie doll. The Scrooge character calls the ghostbusters when the ghosts visit her and they are really funny, she changes her attitude just in time for Christmas. It was really cute and the kids loved performing it you could tell. Maddy’s part was in a group of 6 kids who had a lot of Christmas spirit and were discussing where Christmas spirit comes from. She had three lines and did great and got a few laughs. I made candy leis for the kids and a couple extras to hand out to their friends. We went to Dairy Queen afterward to celebrate.
Maddy & Ian danced their little hearts out in Ms. Kelsey's dance group! I wanted to take the kids’ pictures in front of the backdrop they had on the stage before their dance show. Afterwards they ran off the stage and Maddy slipped on the stairs and hit the back of her head, bum, and back! This was like 30 minutes before the show! I found some ice and a ziplock baggie and I called Scott and asked him to bring some Tylenol for her. Rebecca’s husband heard what happened and he offered to look at her head and neck and did some chiropractic stretches and adjustments on her. She was fine after that, but she had a huge goose egg bump on the back of her head.
The kids danced great! Madelyn had a solo in “Break This Down” from her favorite movie Descendants 3. Ian was so cute, he danced to “The Boys Are Back” from High School Musical and “Eye to Eye” from the Goofy Movie. I was asked to video each performance, and I was also on the costume committee.
