New School Year 2012

Rylan our 3rd grader! His Oma hooked him up with some Virginia shirts.  He couldn't wait to wear this shirt on his first day of school.

There he is walking to his bus stop.  His backpack was filled to the brim with school supplies. Am I a mean mom because I didn't drive him to school on his first day?  I told him to be tough and that the neighbor kids were taking the bus too, so he would be fine.  Then I learned that the neighbor kids' parents brought the supplies to school for them.  Oh well he survived!
                                                                 Waiting for the bus!
Sassy Maddy insisted that she was going to wear her backpack too even though she doesn't start preschool for another week.
Funny little girl, this is her I am going to get you face!
                                                                My kids are the cutest
The bus was a little late, but the kids distracted themselves with catching roly-poly's.

His first day was a half-day so he was home by 1:00 and he thought it went well, and he was happy to see some familiar kids in his class.

But wait, I have another kid to report on. . .my newly adopted daughter, my niece M'Lynn!  She came to live with us for the school year!  Talk about bravery. . .she decided that she was sick of the small town and wanted to experience a clean slate, so she came to live with us.  She will be a tremendous help while Scott is away for the Army (which he is currenly in Korea).
M'Lynn drove out here with her mom Teralyn and then Teralyn flew back home after getting M'Lynn adjusted, unpacked, and registered for school. So M'Lynn is the new kid, and she is doing great! Her school was built in 1888 and it super old and full of character, and is a beautiful brick building, but there is also no parking!  She had to buy a city parking pass and has to park close to the metra tracks in the middle of the village and walk about 4 blocks to school!  Plus seminary is at 5:50 a.m.! She must leave the house no later than 5:30 to get there on time.  Welcome to the city life babe!
We love having her, the kids are literally fighting over who spends more time with her and they have a hard time staying out of her room.  It is going to be a fun year!
