New Years & 13 Year Anniversary

We watched a TON of football during the Christmas  break, this one was the Boise State game, look at Scott's concerned face.

 Oh and was it good!  We dipped broccoli, bread, and some deer summer sausage into the yummy cheese goodness, and had chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert.





 We played some games, and had a year in review slide show (thanks to my past blog posts) and were all in bed by 10:30.

Then on January 2nd, Scott and I went on a special little anniversary (13 years) trip weekend.  Grandma and Grandpa were happy to babysit while we stayed at the Delton Grand Resort & Spa along the shores of Lake Delton in Wisconsin. 
 We went skiing at Cascade Mountain and we were quite impressed with their hills!  We were both really nervous because we hadn't skied in a long time but after a few runs we felt pretty comfortable. The weather was a perfect 30 degrees, and there was a fresh layer of new powder. We had so much fun but by 5:00pm we were tired!

This was right outside our room, out the back sliding door.  Scott thought it would be fun to walk out on the frozen lake.


 It was fun until we heard cracks and we ran to the shore laughing and screaming. . .

We were going to go skiing again, but the temperatures dropped down to the single digits and we didn't want to ski while it was that cold so we went to a indoor water park called Kalahari instead.  The place was not busy at all and we had a good time, but we both admitted that that type of place was more fun with our kids.   One particular ride had us laughing and almost crying, it was called the "screaming hyena."   The start of the slide is 60 feet above the floor of the waterpark and it features a trap-door start that drops you into a near-vertical plunge at up to 25 miles per hour! I would have been screaming except there was water down my throat! 

 In the evenings we went to yummy restaurants, saw the movies "Into the Woods" and "Unbroken" and just had time reconnecting and having uninterrupted conversations. It was marvelous!  Thanks mom and dad for letting us get away and remember why we love each other!

Well, our little girl has finally arrived! Madelyn Kate Hoogland was delivered at 3:04 p.m. today (September 9th) weighing 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 1/2 inches. As you can see she has a FULL head of hair and we think she is the cutest baby ever! Mom is doing fine, we are just hanging out here at the hospital. Rylan is in very good hands at home with Grandma and Grandpa Young and Grammy Jody. Taking a bath, they had to wash her hair twice to get all the gunk out because it is so thick!

Our new nephew!

Yeah my sister Margaret finally had her baby! The poor girl spent hours waiting for her to be dilated enough to push and then started pushing to only realize that the baby was turned and his big burly shoulders could not fit, so they ended up doing a emergency c-section and found out that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck! He was in the ICU for a couple hours and in the mean time Margie was just waiting in her room for a LONG time to hold her baby. Anna and I went up there to keep her company and we were there when she got to hold her sweet baby boy for the first time (they did let her hold him for a very brief second right after delivery but had to rush him off to the ICU). Jeff (Margaret's husband) is so tender and sweet to Margie it was so sweet to see their love for each other and their new baby. He was 8 lbs 2 oz that is about the size of Madelyn, maybe a bit bigger, and Maddy is almost a month old. Notice her baby acne, i don't know what to do for it, but it ...

I've been picture tagged

I was picture tagged by my wonderful sister-in-law Breezi You go to your 4th Picture file, and Choose the 4th Picture and post and then blog about it. This picture was taken while we lived in Boise with Anna, it was close to Christmas time 2006. Rylan was obsessed with the Jock Jams CD and he loved this particular song that was a medley of songs and there was a part that said, "and look at him go, and look at him go, he could go all the waaaaayyyy." At this particular part he would put his hand up to his forehead like he was looking a far distance away. He learned this choreography from his mother who learned it at her best friend's (thanks Meghan) church camp what like 10 years ago! (What can I say I love dancing) I bet if that song came on between me and Meghan we could do the whole routine for you. I guess I have to pass this on...if you are willing, how about Meghan, Kezia (come on you need more pics on your blog anyway) and Monica, who is a excellent picture taker.
