Grammy & Papa Visit

While I was at Girls Camp, Scott bravely traveled to Idaho by himself with all the kids! He noticed a pattern of parental failures without me:
1) Maddy's hair is borderline presentable
2) Vegetables and fruit are not consumed (unless fruit snacks count)
3) The little one frequently is left behind (nothing horrible)
4) The kids' natural survival instincts kick in
 

 They stopped at the Mall of America in Minneapolis,

 The kids did great, except for somewhere along the winding roads of Montana, he discovered that Ian gets carsick.  With a  change of clothes, a whole bottle of disinfectant wipes, and a couple minutes to air out the car they were back on the road in no time!  

The day after camp I flew up to Spokane, Scott picked me up and we stopped by Meghan's house for about 30 minutes to see her new home,  and then we had a marvelous drive back to Grangeville.  I didn't know the top of the jeep was off, so I had to improvise with my scarf to keep my hair from blowing all over for the 3 hour drive.

We got there at about 7:00 pm and they were fishing at Tolo Lake.  I had really missed my babies (Scott included)!

Madelyn was done with fishing and decided to play with the worms...would you like a worm mustache or a worm bracelet?

                                                    

Grangeville is so peaceful and beautiful, on our way to go tubing we stopped by to see Papa who was about to leave on his truck

We took the kids tubing down along the lower Salmon River at Castle Creek. Good thing dad was there to catch them at the end before they headed down the river!

                                                 

                                    Ian was content playing in the sand and throwing rocks, he did not want to go down, until I forced him, then he was hooked!

Grammy even jumped in the water with her clothes on and floated the river with the kids!

At Grammy and Papa's there is a lot of space to do whatever you want.  When Rylan was spending time with them last summer he made his own fort, complete with an arson of weapons he had created.

Madelyn really wanted to build her own fort this time, so she found a spot pulled over some branches, rolled up a log for a "couch",  and made a fire pit with rocks, she let Ian help.

 Sprinkles came over for a visit, she is such a sweet horse, and she loves Madelyn and followed her around for a bit while she was constructing her fort.

 

Some other fun things we did in Grangeville were horse rides, slip n' slide, fabric shopping at Grammy's shop, shooting guns, Grammy taught me how to make jam from some raspberries that the kids picked and fishing!

                                     

For Scott's birthday he and Rylan woke up at 5:30 am, and spent all morning fishing. Papa joined them later that morning.  They caught a lot of trout and one HUGE catfish!

The night before we left Rylan curled up on Grammy's lap and she started a chapter book with him, then let him take the book with him for the drive home.  I love how much he loves his grandparents.
