Spring Break 2014
As we looked at Rylan's spring break week and Scott's work calendar we realized that Scott had to be at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin for work on the same week! We thought that spring break was ruined, but we realized that there was a hidden gem of a place just an hour away from where Scott had to work. The Great Wolf Lodge is a resort/hotel with a giant indoor water park, an arcade, spa, ice cream shop, kids craft center, restaurant, and anything you need for a fun family vacation.
This is the front lobby,
where every night at 8 pm they had story time.
Maddy and Ian listening intently in their jammies.
The kids were very entertained playing in the water. I thought that Madelyn would be too little to go down most of the slides but she was just the right height to go down all but one. She was a little hesitant at first but all it took was one push at the top of a slide and she was hooked from then on! We played hard in the water for 3 days! Ian was so happy and content playing in the Raccoon Lagoon
He went down this slide probably over 100 times. On his back facing forward, on his back facing backward, on his belly front and back...he even tried standing but that didn't work!
They had lifeguards all over supervising every area. They must be trained to walk or pace over their area because at the little kiddie section this one particular lifeguard would walk around the edge over and over. Ian noticed this and started following behind him and marching with his arms up to his chest copying the lifeguard! It was hilarious, I didn't have my camera with me darn it. The lifeguard turned around suddenly and noticed what Ian was doing, chuckled to himself and gave Ian a high five.
They had so many fun slides, obstacle courses, and pools the kids were constantly busy, and when they were tired they would float in the lazy river or the wave pool.
Towards the end of our 3rd day Scott and I were wiped out! But Madelyn and Rylan still wanted more! They became great slide buddies, Madelyn wasn't afraid of anything, and she learned how to carry her own huge tube, it was so fun to see her be fearless.
This slide was her favorite,
We had so much fun and would love to go there again. It was the perfect place to get away from the cold temperatures.
