Miss Maddy

Our little girl is growing up! She transitioned into a big girl bed a couple weeks ago, and she is doing really well. She had a couple times when she was playing in her room instead of laying in her bed, but now for the most part she stays in bed and goes to sleep. It was so funny she was going down for a nap and I went into to check on her and she had a book in her bed, (note: I did not give her a book to have in her bed). I asked her if she got out of her bed and she said in her snobbyness voice, "no, mommy I not!" Then I said, Madelyn, you got out of your bed to get that book didn't you?" Then she said, "I in my bed!"

Oh she is sassy isn't she? Also one time while she was supposed to be sleeping I checked on her and she had put on her cowgirl boots and was dancing around. So funny, it is hard not to laugh at her and be tough. We kept the crib up in her room and told her that if she got out of bed she would have to go back into the baby bed. She only had to go into the baby bed about 4 times, then she got it.

She makes us laugh so much. She has these faces that she pulls when she is surprised, angry, or disgusted that are hilarious! We are always trying to get her to make these faces. When she gets excited about something she will jump up and down and chant about whatever she is excited about. She also loves to do things by herself, and in her most serious look and voice she will say, "mommy, let me get down by myself...okaaaaay? She says this with her hand up stopping me and when she says ok she tilts her head and opens her eyes wide. She loves to play with her brother, but if her brother tries to play with her...she will get mad. It has to be on her terms. Their favorite things to do together are, reading, chasing each other around the house, and hiding under a blanket and having me come find them.

Here are some other things about Maddy that we love:

She thinks band-aids are a cure all

She is willing to give just about anyone a hug and kiss if you need one, and if someone is sad she will say, "I give them a kiss" and she does!

While in the car she tells me everything she can see out her window, and she asks, "where we going, mom? multiple times.

She LOVES green vegetables

She will ask you to sing her a song to help her sleep

She loves snacks and asks for one 50 times a day!

She thinks she has a baby in her tummy, just like mommy

If something is little, like a baby, stuffed animal or even a tiny toy car, she cradles it and says, "look, it's sooo cute!"

If she is impressed with something, she will ask you, "you made this?" Anything from the food she is eating, the dress she is wearing, the wall Scott painted, or the necklaces she plays with.

She also loves to help, here is a picture of her helping pick the millions of grapes from our vines to make grape juice

She often talks in a gruff, growling voice, and thinks it is so funny, so she will say something in that voice then laugh at herself

This video is what happens at dinner time when you have church at 1:00 and Maddy doesn't get a nap. We were all eating and I nudged Scott from under the table and pointed at Maddy because she was starting to doze. Then Rylan saw and could not stop laughing, but every time he laughed she would wake right up. So we all finished and left the table so Maddy could finish, and so we could secretly video tape her!

We love you Madelyn!

Poor girl! One o'clock church is AWFUL when you have little ones! It's not unusual for one of the Sunbeams to fall asleep during opening exercises in our ward (we also go at 1). That being said, the video was priceless.
