Baby Jay Visit

(Spring 2021)

M’Lynn and Payton and baby Jay were driving through Kentucky on their way to work pest control in Florida. They stayed with us for a couple of days. They were on track to arrive during our church activities on Wednesday night, so Maddy, Rylan, and I were kind of in a hurry to get home. We left the door unlocked, so they could walk right in, Scott and Ian got home from activity days about 20 minutes after they arrived. They drove 18 hrs on Tuesday and 8 on Wednesday! Such good travelers! I finally got to hold baby Jay! What a sweet baby.

Scott ironically was working from home but he couldn't log on to his computer, but it worked out perfectly so he could spend time with our company.  The kids had school but periodically came down to chat. We took Payton and M’Lynn to one of our favorite BBQ places Dee’s Butts for dinner.

Payton loved to play video games with Ian and Maddy Somehow my kids opened up to him really quick, he is really good about getting down to their level and speaking their language.  We had a corn hole tournament, and M’Lynn re-taught us how to play Kube, which is a game that Ira and Teralyn gave us a couple years ago but we forgot how to play. It was so fun! We were laughing hysterically. When it got dark M’Lynn and I watched the kids play Just Dance while Scott and Payton talked upstairs, Rylan was working.

On Saturday morning, M’Lynn was craving doughnuts, so I got up early and drove to Amazing Glazen doughnuts. Scott was taking Payton shooting at our friend’s property. Payton is in love with Scott, he is so enamored with him. They came home for lunch and then wanted to go to the gun store because Payton really wanted to buy a gun.  But they wouldn’t sell him one because he wasn’t from Kentucky. M'Lynn and I went to Target and Walmart in search for a baby seat and something that Jay could sit in in the pool. M’Lynn also wanted to make us some white chicken chili so we got ingredients for that.

The kids wanted to play Exploding Kittens with M & P, I was on baby duty. After the kids were in bed we watched The Falcon & the Winter Soldier

It was so fun meeting Jay and getting to know Payton a little better.

A couple weeks later Ira and Teralyn drove through town on their way to visit Payton and M'Lynn in Florida. They arrived at our house just in time to watch Rylan perform in All-District Band. He tried out for this position months ago and they picked a couple students from each high school to make an honor band of just juniors and seniors. They played three songs and they sounded amazing for just learning the songs that day. Rylan was sitting on the end so it was really easy to see him and we had a great view from the bleachers. Ira & Tera seemed to enjoy the concert.

Rylan had a great winter percussion season! Instead of attending competitions like they have done in the past they recorded their performances and sent them in to be judged. They did do a performance LIVE for the parents. Rylan was chosen to play the marimba which wasn't his first choice, but he learned quite a bit and actually got pretty good!

In February 2021 I officially launched my new business Sunrise Virtual Services. In 2020 I took a virtual assistant certification course online.  I started out by assisting Scott's cousin Kezia with her L'Bri skincare business. I helped her make graphics and did some customer service for her. In May of 2021 I landed my second client, Marjorie Brook of Brooks Seminars. She is a massage therapist, author, and international course instructor. In July of 2021 I met my third client Elisabeth Stitt, a parenting coach and founder of Joyful Parenting Coaching. I am learning a lot and making mistakes as I go but I love earning some extra money for our family.
