Winter 2018-2019

Ian was so excited to play basketball again for Upward. He had two friends on his team, Abigail from church and Quinn from school. His confidence and skills improved.

Madelyn tried basketball for the first time! Her great friend Ashleah is a huge soccer and basketball player and she encouraged Maddy to give it a try, her dad was the coach for the 4th-grade team.  Madelyn enjoyed being on a team and being with her friends, but the game of basketball proved to be a little too vicious for her. She enjoys shooting and playing around with her family but the league she was on was pretty competitive and she felt that all the girls had been playing for a long time so she was behind in skill. But she tried it and didn't quit so we were proud of her.
We had a visit from Cooper and Ashley, the kids always love playing with him.




Rylan tried out for the Winter Percussion team. They traveled and competed all over Kentucky and at the end of year banquet, Rylan got the most improved award! He auditioned not knowing anything about percussion but he has the heart and dedication and learned as he went. Mr. Cantrell gave him the award and said that he was very hardworking and dedicated.






Madelyn entered a Dumbo art contest and we made a quilt together for her bed


Our church came out with the new Come Follow Me program which is a home study program and this year it was the New Testament. Every Sunday afternoon/evening we have dedicated time to study together and we have really enjoyed it.

Dare Essay winner

 (Early Spring 2022)  Ian was selected to read his essay at his DARE graduation! They called the top three essays for each class and Ian’s was picked to read for Mr Thompson’s class. They had to read their essay on the spot in front of the whole 5th grade and their parents! He was just getting over a sickness so his voice was a bit crackly but he did great! He got a big trophy too! I had a cough drop and bottled water in my purse in case he needed it, but he didn’t. Mr. Thompson pulled me aside and jokingly said that he has highly considering holding Ian back so he could be in his class again, he just thinks he is the coolest kid.  Ian has also loved Academic Team this year! Grandpa & Grandma Young Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Young drove all the way from Idaho to visit us!  It took them 2 1/2 days because they stopped at Mt. Rushmore, but they got here around 1:00 pm and we were all so excited and when Rylan got off the bus, they were there waiting for him! With G & G Young comes the I-pad which is a good way for Grandmas and Grandpas to get to actually hold their grandkids all they want.   Ian learned quite a bit from the I-pad just from their time here.   Ian has learned to say, "cheese" whenever someone points a camera at him  I am sorry to say that we didn't do that much, and when I asked them what they wanted to do they said that just wanted to watch me be a mom and play with the kids. Rylan and the Beginning of Mission Prep

(Early Spring 2022) Rylan was able to have one last percussion season.
