Spring Break - Chicago Style

We weren't sure what we should do for spring break, and we didn't know if Scott would be able to take much time off since he had just been gone from work for his SAP training so, we decided to have spring break at home and do all of our favorite things in Chicago and some new things we haven't had the chance to do yet.

Our first day was low key, I helped some of my young women from church sew a quilt, we went to the park, read some books, watched a movie in mom & dad's bed and Scott took Rylan to Medieval Times.

Day 2:  We went to Sky High Sports and jumped until we were sick.  With frequent potty breaks I can successfully jump without peeing my pants!  Scott tried to get a picture of me doing a toe touch, before he got caught with an electronic ...oops that is against the rules

Next I took the littles to our church Easter Egg hunt

Day 3: We rode the train downtown! Our kids had never ridden the train!  Scott and I had before, but they were very excited to ride. The picture of Maddy says it all!  That was her face when she saw it coming.

Our first stop was the Willis Tower

                                     

Then hop on a Water Taxi to Michigan Avenue.  Scott brought a camel back for us to drink out of and whenever a kid needed a drink he would pretend to nurse them, because that is what Scott does, he likes to embarrass us whenever he can!

 Here comes the boat!

Maddy brought her American Girl Doll Rebecca so she could get her ear's pierced at the store. And we let the boys pick out a Lego set from the Lego store.

 

Next we walked over to Navy Pier and rode the ferris wheel

The kids were pooped and took a fake sleeping picture on the train ride home.

Day 4: We drove up to Wisconsin to the Jelly Belly Factory.  It was super fun, we got to hop on a little train that drove through the factory and we got to see how they make the jelly beans and hear fun facts about their company.

 But best of all, we got to wear paper hats!

 We stopped at a cheese store, (umm cheese curds) on the way to the Volo Auto Museum

 They had a lot of old cars that had been restored and a bunch of cars that had been in movies

I wanted to climb into the back of that car and sing, "You're the one that I want, ohh oo ooo" so bad! We snag it next to the care instead.

Day 5: We wanted to take the kids up to a indoor water park resort but silly us we thought that we could just walk in and buy tickets.  We thought to call ahead a couple days before and they were not letting the general public enter without staying at their resort and every room was booked....so plan B was to go to Dave & Busters.   It is like a Chuckie Cheese but fun for grownups too. 

They actually earned some pretty good prizes with their tickets!  It was cold and they wanted to hurry and get into the car, that is why Maddy is the only one ready for a picture!

The Saturday after spring break our park district had a Easter egg hunt and it was General Conference so we had a wonderful weekend at home listening to our prophet and apostles of the Lord.

We bought Maddy and Rylan rollerblades and we had fun trying them out in the sunny weather. They caught on pretty fast!

We had a wonderful spring break!

The Tuesday after spring break we were able to go downtown again and meet my brother Jared and friend Alicia who were here with BYU-Idaho. That was fun!  We met them at Giordano's for the famous Chicago deep dish pizza.
