What Are We Doing This Weekend?

Wasn't exactly the reaction I was hoping for, but still very cute. I love how Maddy asked if that was where the princesses live. Disney does a good job advertising because I have no idea where she got that from. Maybe they watch the disney channel too much! Stay tuned for our adventure in Disney World!

Columbia Childrens Museum

On the last Friday before Rylan started school I took the kids to the museum downtown. I had never been downtown before and I was a little nervous because I had no idea what it was like, but I was sick of staying at home and going to the pool everyday. We wanted to do something different. We ventured out after lunch and we had a blast! The museum was very cool with a lot of exhibits that the kids could relate to. My favorite was the butterfly garden, which I couldn't take any pictures of because I had to hold Ian because no strollers were allowed, and my other hand was holding Maddy because I was afraid she was going to try and pick up a butterfly. We walked in and were amazed at about 50+ butterflies flying all around us. They gave us a chart that had pictures of all the butterflies on them with their names so we could identify each of them. There was a little shed in the garden that had a window full of chrysalises hanging, some were empty and some had butterflies / cater...

It's Great to be 8!

Image
Rylan is finally 8! He has been waiting to be 8 for a very long time! We celebrated his birthday with mini pizzas and instead of a cake he wanted our new favorite dessert, it is a cream cheese, chocolate pudding, oreo and heath bar delight! I think it is called Candy Bar Dessert, he helped me make it the night before. On the morning of his birthday I gave him a gift early. It was all his baby home videos transferred on to a DVD. He loves to watch this video and the VHS it was on was slowly deteriorating, so I had it put on a fun DVD for him. We went swimming when dad got home and after opening presents we had a Justin Bieber dance party! It was a fantastic day even though there were no friends to celebrate it, Rylan didn't complain once about it. We have Bieber fever at our house, Rylan got his movie which I have to say is pretty good, and it made me teary. On August 15th Rylan started 2nd grade! He is attending a fantastic school that is only 5 years old and ...

Ian 6 Months

Image
Ian's 6th month of life was quite adventurous! He has been quite the trooper I have to say. He had to travel across the country belted into a carseat, had to sleep in somewhere new every couple days, miss out on naps, learned to eat solids, got a haircut, and is sitting up for longer periods of time. He is finally taking naps that last more than 30 minutes and sleeping through the night most of the time. Yeah for mommy! At the doctor's he weighted at 14 pounds, 3 oz and is now in the 2nd percentile, but that seriously surprises us because he looks chubby in his cheeks and thighs. He had to get his little boy part re-circumcised, poor guy. The skin had grown back over it, not completely but just a little that the doctor was concerned about. I didn't actually see how they did it because I was too afraid to look, but he was in some pain and was quite sore for a couple days (plus the shots). He is usually a very quiet, serious kid when he is in a situation that he is unfamil...

The drive across America

Image
We started bright and early Tuesday morning, we wanted to leave Grangeville by 8 a.m. to get a good start on our trek. So I wouldn't have to drive and one of us wouldn't be stuck with all the kids (which lets face it would be me,) Scott and his dad arranged a little trade. We left our camper with them and they let us take their flatbed trailer to haul my car with. Whew, so we all could be in one car and help with the kids, you know get them snacks, change the movie, break up fights, threaten their lives. . .have you ever driven across the country with three kids!?!? Poor Ian got bored, but Rylan and Madelyn did try to entertain him. At Lolo Pass we stopped to go potty and eat lunch and *sniffle, sniffle* say goodbye to our dear Idaho, since we were just about to cross into Montana. Scott & I love Idaho so much not only for the memories but the wilderness, rivers, lakes and forrests! We were both born here, raised here, got married here, went to college, and had our first ba...

Grangeville

Image
Now that we have been in South Carolina for a couple weeks and things are unpacked I can finally feel like I have some free time to blog. After we were in Rexburg we headed north to Grangeville for 4th of July festivites. The kids were very excited for the parade and festivites. Here they are in their 4th of July outfits. Poor Rylan had the worst allergies while we were there, and Ian had a huge mosquito bite on his forehead. Their shirts say; "My daddy is protecting our freedom" Adah the Great is a baby whisperer, she took great care of Ian and always seemed to get him to sleep without a fuss. She even took care of Ian & Maddy for us while we went to the rodeo one night. Waiting for the parade Maddy was beyond excited. Rylan had been talking up the parade for days. "Look mom, horses!" "Candy!" Rylan participated in the street races and of course we did the egg toss. Scott & Rylan crossing the finish line of the 5K firecracker run. Rylan and Madel...
