Spring Visitors

 Our dear friends the Foxes came to visit us!  It was their spring break a couple weeks after ours and they stopped by for the weekend on their way to Nashville.  We took them to the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace and boyhood home.









Mammoth cave to do the Domes and Dripstones Tour. They drove us out to the entrance by bus and we had a park ranger in front and a park ranger in the back, and about 75 people on the tour. The first part was a lot of stairs going down and we went through a series of domes and pits, it was very cool! The kids loved it. After our two hour tour we ate our lunch on some picnic tables we found and we started to see some dark clouds forming and just as we were walking to the car it started to rain. We drove home, the kids watched Blue Planet on Netflix, I made some Cafe Rio sweet pork, we had some birthday cake for Jillian and the parents talked upstairs while the kids entertained themselves downstairs.

We made our kids go to school, and Scott and I headed up to Louisville to Churchill Downs to the Kentucky Derby Museum with them. Scott and I had never done the museum and it was pretty cool. They first instruct you to watch about a 18 minute video that has a panoramic screen and you sit in this swivel bar stool so you can move your seat all around. The video starts off with a colt being born and the training process of getting it ready to run in the derby. The video was very entertaining and well done and kind of gets you hyped up to watch the derby. Then we took a tour of Churchill Downs, which we have been to before but it was still neat to hear all about it from the tour guide.


Then we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum, they didn't allow photos to be taken of the factory which was sad because it was really cool. It was really interesting watching how they make their baseball bats and the process of painting. At the end of the tour you get to take home a small mini bat, and the Fox kids were super happy about that. Scott and I left after the tour so we could be home before our kids got home from school.  I made some chicken noodle soup for dinner, the kids started playing a game and Brett, Lisa, Scott and I snuck out to get dessert from this pie place that just opened up.

Well, our little girl has finally arrived! Madelyn Kate Hoogland was delivered at 3:04 p.m. today (September 9th) weighing 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 1/2 inches. As you can see she has a FULL head of hair and we think she is the cutest baby ever! Mom is doing fine, we are just hanging out here at the hospital. Rylan is in very good hands at home with Grandma and Grandpa Young and Grammy Jody. Taking a bath, they had to wash her hair twice to get all the gunk out because it is so thick!

Our new nephew!

Yeah my sister Margaret finally had her baby! The poor girl spent hours waiting for her to be dilated enough to push and then started pushing to only realize that the baby was turned and his big burly shoulders could not fit, so they ended up doing a emergency c-section and found out that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck! He was in the ICU for a couple hours and in the mean time Margie was just waiting in her room for a LONG time to hold her baby. Anna and I went up there to keep her company and we were there when she got to hold her sweet baby boy for the first time (they did let her hold him for a very brief second right after delivery but had to rush him off to the ICU). Jeff (Margaret's husband) is so tender and sweet to Margie it was so sweet to see their love for each other and their new baby. He was 8 lbs 2 oz that is about the size of Madelyn, maybe a bit bigger, and Maddy is almost a month old. Notice her baby acne, i don't know what to do for it, but it ...

I've been picture tagged

I was picture tagged by my wonderful sister-in-law Breezi You go to your 4th Picture file, and Choose the 4th Picture and post and then blog about it. This picture was taken while we lived in Boise with Anna, it was close to Christmas time 2006. Rylan was obsessed with the Jock Jams CD and he loved this particular song that was a medley of songs and there was a part that said, "and look at him go, and look at him go, he could go all the waaaaayyyy." At this particular part he would put his hand up to his forehead like he was looking a far distance away. He learned this choreography from his mother who learned it at her best friend's (thanks Meghan) church camp what like 10 years ago! (What can I say I love dancing) I bet if that song came on between me and Meghan we could do the whole routine for you. I guess I have to pass this on...if you are willing, how about Meghan, Kezia (come on you need more pics on your blog anyway) and Monica, who is a excellent picture taker.
