Ian Turns 4!

Our sweet baby boy Ian turned 4 a couple weeks ago.  We decided to have his birthday party before Grandma & Grandpa left.  Grandma's birthday (Jan 9th) is just 3 days before his on the 11th so we had a joint party!  He wanted to have a pajama party,  and play hide and go seek in the dark.  Ian is into ninja's right now so he got his own sword and costume.

You may be wondering about that hat...well Scott bought that hat for him in Boise when he and Ian went on their hunting trip in October.  He loves to wear it and look like daddy, (because Scott can often be seen wearing a hat.)

 Now he can play ninjas!

We got an ice cream cake from Oberwiess our favorite dairy/ice cream shop.

 Some facts about Ian:
*He is very sharp, and loves to do math!  He will just randomly tell me..."mom, 2+4=6...did you know that?"
* He loves to watch Ninja Turtles, Paw Patrol, Sponge Bob, Team Umi-Zoomi & Bubble Guppies
* He started Sunbeam class at church, he was very proud to go at first, but has since told me that he misses his old class because they had snacks, and that it is hard to sit still, (can you blame him?)
* He loves his big sister Madelyn, he follows her around every afternoon after she comes home from school.  If he needs to use the potty at night or get a drink  he wakes up Maddy.  Or he crawls into bed with her if he feels scared.  Madelyn was sharing in the car that she wanted to have a sleepover with a friend, and Ian said, "In fact, I would miss you too much Maddy if you went somewhere else for the night."
* He is our comic relief,  he is always coming up with really funny things to say with the best timing.  For example,  "I'm keeping my eye on you" (then he pretends to take out his eye and throw it at me). He is very silly.
* He loves the karate class at our gym and I have to remind him when it is appropriate to use his "skills." (Like not on our friend at church who picked him up and started tickling him.)
* He is tender hearted, he gets his feelings hurt often.
* He is still a picky eater, but since G & G watched him over our anniversary weekend he has joined the "Taste it First Club" (thanks mom) he has been better about trying new foods before he decides he  hates it.
* He is a deal maker, if he is asked to do something he doesn't like he will try and make a deal with you, sometimes the deal is actually a good compromise and sometimes it is all in his favor, but I love that he even tries!
* He can remember a lot!  He can retell a story with great detail.
* He is such a snuggle bug, he has to sit right next to you and he always lays his head on your arm when you are reading a book to him.

Some more pictures of our Ian:
He loves to go swimming!  When it's time to go home, this is his usual face

he also loves to help me in the kitchen, and his church pants don't stay on very well so he just leaves them off after church
 What can I say, he's a boy!
He falls asleep always clutching the favorite toy of the night, and on this night some spy glasses

We love you sweet boy!
