Christmas 2013

Another Christmas in Chicago, we tried to get family to come to us this year, but it just didn't work out for them, so we celebrated with just our family.  My family growing up had a Christmas Eve puzzle that we always worked on in the weeks prior to Christmas day, but I haven't found a puzzle for my family yet so what did we do, a world puzzle!  It was only about 75 pieces and it only took us about 30 minutes but it was a fun thing to do together!

  Ian hadn't had a nap so he was really tired by this time and for some reason did NOT want to sit next to the others for a Christmas PJ picture!  He was pretty angry.
 We read the Christmas story from Luke 2 instead of acting it out then put the kids to bed at about 8:30pm.  Rylan moved his mattress into Maddy and Ian's room so they could all be together.

 Madelyn really wanted a dog for Christmas, we convinced her a barking, walking one with a leash would be fun enough!

 Scott and Rylan got a marshmallow bow shooter from Ira & Teralyn's family.
                                      
Scott bought me tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera!  A life long dream of mine!

 Poor Scott was sick and was caught sleeping a lot that day



 Scott owns a share (a very small one) of the Green bay Packers, I got his certificate framed for him so he can show it off to all his co-workers who are naturally Chicago Bears fans!
 New running shoes!  They didn't fit very well with my thick wool socks though, but I have tried them since and they are great!  Here's to a better running time and a healthy heart!
 This year I wanted to make my kids a special gift.  I made Ian a dinosaur hat and sweatshirt
 


 and I made Rylan and Madelyn each a DVD with all their home videos of them.  They loved watching it!
It was a wonderful Christmas, we have been so blessed! But we definitely missed our extended family!

Dare Essay winner

 (Early Spring 2022)  Ian was selected to read his essay at his DARE graduation! They called the top three essays for each class and Ian’s was picked to read for Mr Thompson’s class. They had to read their essay on the spot in front of the whole 5th grade and their parents! He was just getting over a sickness so his voice was a bit crackly but he did great! He got a big trophy too! I had a cough drop and bottled water in my purse in case he needed it, but he didn’t. Mr. Thompson pulled me aside and jokingly said that he has highly considering holding Ian back so he could be in his class again, he just thinks he is the coolest kid.  Ian has also loved Academic Team this year! Grandpa & Grandma Young Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Young drove all the way from Idaho to visit us!  It took them 2 1/2 days because they stopped at Mt. Rushmore, but they got here around 1:00 pm and we were all so excited and when Rylan got off the bus, they were there waiting for him! With G & G Young comes the I-pad which is a good way for Grandmas and Grandpas to get to actually hold their grandkids all they want.   Ian learned quite a bit from the I-pad just from their time here.   Ian has learned to say, "cheese" whenever someone points a camera at him  I am sorry to say that we didn't do that much, and when I asked them what they wanted to do they said that just wanted to watch me be a mom and play with the kids. They even babysat while Scott and I went to a dance, and when Scott was out of town I went to play with friends one Friday.  I felt guilty leaving but they insisted on letting me have a night out away from kids.  We did hav...

Rylan and the Beginning of Mission Prep

(Early Spring 2022) Rylan was able to have one last percussion season.
