Rivers+hot springs+bears+wolves+Old Faithful=FUN!
We decided to have one last hoop-lah before the weather got cold and headed up to Idaho to experience Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. What a blast! Not only did they have the extremely hot pools, but they have a wicked waterpark, and a cute little river that runs right through the middle of the town that you can tube down. There are even some decent rapids. Decent should explain why me and our friend Alison flipped the tube going down..hee hee! Our husbands were laughing their heads off up the river bank at us, it must have looked funny. It was really fun! Scott and Rylan went down first with our friend Pete who actually went down the river on a $1 air mattress. He hit some rocks and had some huge battle scars to prove how MANLY he was. After floating the river we had lunch then went to the waterpark, which was packed but Rylan had fun because they had big slides he could actually go down. Then we went to Pocatello for dinner. We then drove to Idaho Falls and stayed the night there and actually walked next to the famous falls. We lived in Rexburg (about 20 minutes away) for 4 years and never went there.
We tried to stay at hotels with pools so we could keep Rylan entertained and while we played at the pool he decided to try not only jumping into the pool but flipping and doing all sorts of tricks! I will have to take a video of it, he is very proud of himself.
After Idaho Falls we went to West Yellowstone and did the touristy thing and went to Old Faithful. It is so funny as you are driving into the park you are searching for wildlife but the first indicator of something is not the wildlife itself but all the cars lined up on the road and people getting out of their cars with their tele-photo lens cameras. All we saw were some elk, but we went to a grizzly Bear and wolf habitat where we saw them really up close. We saw the bears during their feeding time. They had some kids who were in a class go out and "hide" bear food in the rocks and sticks, we also saw a park keeper bring out some meat and dear hooves. Then they let two bears out and we got to watch them hunt for their food.

I don't think Rylan really understood just what this "geyser" was going to do, but when it erupted, he thought it was "awesome."
